Where men and women fleets sail together the grading criteria should be applied to the separate number of nations/competitors. E.g. if there is less than the number of competitors/nations specified in the grading criteria for the event, they would not qualify to be ranked, as their event did not comply with the basic number of competitors/nations. As well, the results will only be ranked if male and female competitors/sailors are indicated.
If an event is downgraded the percentage of places to be ranked in an event should be in accordance with the new grade not the original one that it was awarded.
Where a class is split into Gold and Silver fleets, it is correct to rank 1st place in the silver behind the last place in the gold.
Percentages are calculated based on the number of competitors who complete at least three races in an event, rather than the number of competitors entered.
Where men and women fleets sail together the men and women will be ranked separately by simply extracting the women's positions from the overall positions and ranking them in order, i.e. 1,2,3 ... etc.
Regardless of its grading, an event will not be entered into the rankings if it has less than four competitors (even if the women raced with the men).
Any competitor who's calculated points result in a 0.5 or above will be rounded up.
Where results are forwarded late to the ISAF office (more than a month late) the matter will be reported to the Sub-Committee and the event may be downgraded the following year.
The rankings should follow the Olympic disciplines and therefore crews in the 470 class should be all-women to be eligible for points on the 470 women's rankings or all male to be eligible for points on the 470 men's rankings. The laser rankings are men only, Laser Radial women, only.
No decimal places will be indicated on the rankings reports however if there are decimal places that separate two competitors the compeitors will be ranked accordingly. In the case of equal points the competitors will be tied.
The matter of nationality and consequences of a competitor sailing under different national flags. Currently, a change is on application by the sailor and reported by ISAF to the relevant Member National Authorities (MNA) concerned.
National Authorities/Regatta organisers applying for a grading for the first time should be obliged to send a history of the regatta before the regatta can be considered.
New regattas with no track record will, in principle, only be given the lowest grade in the first year of application.
All Continental Championships are grade C1. Examples: European, South American.
'Closed' events or events for a defined category like youth and a masters should not be graded with the exception of ISAF events.
Never more than 100 sailors are entered.
In relation to ISAF Regulation 24.1.1 (e) all results should include ISAF Sailor IDs, forenames, surnames and, when competing in mixed fleets, gender, for all crew members. All results should include overall finishing positions, overall scores, individual race positions, nationality and crew members for all boats.
