Optimist Oceanian Championship
Apia

52 young sailors from ten Oceanian countries are entered for the 4th. IODA Oceanians in Samoa. First time participants are Papua New Guinea.
The event is being sailed out of Apia Yacht Club in two divisions with mandatory charter boats supplied by the Chinese builder Qingdao Zou. Winds are reported as light with frequent rain.

The early leader is last year's silver medallist Corentin Guegan of New Caldonia with the Tahitian number two, Ewen Morin in second. Last year's winner and firm favourite Teiki Hacheche (TAH) is currently fourth.
