Paul ELVSTRÖM Wins 1990 Beppe Croce Trophy

In selecting the recipient for the 1990 Beppe Croce Trophy the Executive Committee resolved that the presentation be made to Paul ELVSTRÖM (DEN).
Paul ELVSTRÖM has dedicated his life to yachting and is probably the most successful racing yachtsman in post war years. He has competed in nine Olympic regattas, winning four Gold Medals. He has also been World Champion in major international classes some 13 times and he has won countless other regattas.
The Beppe Croce Trophy, presented to the IYRU by the Federzione Italiana de Vela in memory of Beppe Croce, President of the IYRU from 1969 to 1986 is dedicated: “in memory of a lifetime’s dedication to yachting”.
This prestigious trophy is awarded to an individual who has made a voluntary and outstanding contribution to the sport of yachting.
The presentation will take place at the IYRU Gala Banquet on Friday 9th November at the Inn on the Park, London, and will be made by Peter Tallberg, President of the IYRU.
