OAMPS Australian Youth Championships 2007
Frankston, Victoria, Australia

Entries for the 11th OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship 2008 to be held from 6-10 January, 2008 at Frankston Yacht Club, Victoria are closing today.
Held annually, the event next year has already attracted over 100 competitors from all states in Australia as well New Zealand, Singapore and Denmark.

The Championship includes events for Laser 4.7 (Girls and Boys), Laser Radial (Girls and Boys), Laser Full Rig (Boys), 420 (Girls, Boys & Mixed), Hobie 16 (Open) and for the first time the Bic Techno 293 Sailboard (Girls and Boys).

For the first time Yachting Australia will also include the opportunity for competitor’s results to contribute to the ‘State Cup’. A new perpetual trophy will be awarded to the best performing Australian state. The ‘State Cup’ is seen as an exciting new initiative to further build the competitive experience and inter-state rivalries among the competitors who travel from across Australia to compete at the event.

We wish to also remind coaches supporting athletes at the event they must advise Yachting Australia of their participation before the 19 December 2007 by completing the form available at www.yachting.org.au/youthchamps. Coaches and Boats that have not registered by the deadline will not be able to enter the course area.

Entries close on Friday 30 November, 2007 however late submissions may be accepted at the discretion of Yachting Australia (late fees apply).

The OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship 2008 is the selection event for the OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Sailing Team. A team of up to ten competitors will compete at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship to be held in Aarhus, Denmark from 1019 July 2008. The Team will also be defending the Volvo Trophy after being crowned the most successful nation at the same event held in Canada in July this year.
