 The pairing came into the Olympic Regatta ranked 21st in the world, but from early on were clearly medal contenders in the 49er fleet. Despite winning only one race, their consistency kept them in the top three overall from Race 3 onwards, with their Gold Medal claimed in the penultimate race, to achieve Finland's first medal in sailing for twenty years.
