LIMA Dominates On Home Waters
Matosinhos Sailing Cup 2005
Leça de Palmeira, Matosinhos, Portugal
Number five in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings Gustavo LIMA (POR) proved himself a step above the rest of the competition at the ISAF Grade 3 Matosinhos Sailing Cup in Leça de Palmeira, Portugal. Bullets in all four races gave the Portuguese Laser star a dominant victory, whilst in a tighter Laser Radial series Charlotte DOBSON (GBR) came out on top.
LIMA sailed to an impressive victory last weekend with only Daniel MIHELIC (CRO) proving a significant threat. The Croatian followed
LIMA in second place in three races and went OCS in the other. Another Croatian, Tudor BILIC, took third place.
For DOBSON, consistency was the key with top five finishes in all five races giving her victory. She won out in front of two of the home sailors, with João VIDINHA in second after a bullet in the final race and João MORAIS third. Tina MIHELIC (CRO) came in fourth and second woman with Cecilia CARRANZA (ARG) third woman in sixth place overall.
Slovenia’s Dany STANISIC took the honours in the Laser 4.7 ahead of Francisco CASTRO (ESP) and Carlos MARTINS (POR).
