Worlds Get Underway In Canada
IFDS Multihull World Championship 2005

The 2005 International Foundation for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) Multihull World Championship is underway on Lake Okanagan, Kelowna, Canada.
The Central Okanagan Sailing Association (COSA) is hosting it’s second Championship, after it held the first ever event back in 2002.
Mike STRAHLE and Carl STRAHLE (USA) won the World title three years ago and have returned this year to defend their crown. They line up against a strong American and Canadian field featuring a total of 28 sailors.
They are racing in trapseat-equipped Hobie 16s provided by the Organizing Authority, which will be rotated throughout the series. The two days preceding the Championship from 4-5 July were used to provide a training camp. Racing for the Championship started yesterday, continues today and tomorrow with the decisive final races taking place on Saturday.
Linda MERKLE (USA), the IFDS Technical Delegate for the Championship commented, 'IFDS is pleased to support this World Championship and encourage disabled sailing across all disciplines of the sport. We're looking forwards to some closely contested competition.'
