Mumm 30 World Championship 2005
France

Richard PERINI (AUS) and team will begin the defence of the ninth Mumm 30 World Championship when racing gets underway in France later today.
PERINI, also current Farr 40 World Champion, will become the first skipper to win the crown twice if he can take the title this week.

Sailing on board the boat Foreign Affair is his world class team consisting of Olympic Gold Medallist Tom KING (AUS) as tactician, as well as Darren JONES (AUS), Chris COOK (AUS), Andrew PARKES (AUS), Michael DUNSTAN (AUS) and Tristram ELDERSHAW (AUS).

The series will be tough, with 40 boats from around the world contesting the eleven races. To add to the challenge there will be no discard so consistency will be the key.

According to event organisers, PERINI and team can expect a strong showing from the Italian teams, who held the trophy for the previous four years, as well as the home nation France.
