IRO Application Form Revised

ISAF Race Officials

The revised International Race Officer Application Form is now available and must be used by all new applicants and IROs applying for renewal of their status.
Currently there are nearly 200 IROs coming from all six continents. who are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of ISAF’s standards for the organization and conduct of events.

The new form meets the requests made by the Race Management Sub-Committee at the ISAF Annual Conference of November 2004. Those were primarily focused around obtaining more detailed information about the experience of candidates put forward for a first appointment to International Race Officer (IRO) status. 15 new appointments were approved in 2004.
Significantly the form differs in three areas:

  • more detailed information about the nature of the experience of applicants, ie the type of role undertaken at specific events;
  • details of ‘on the water’ assessments undertaken by the candidate and;
  •  listed referees should complete a standard reference form.

All applications for new IROs and IRO renewals should reach the ISAF office before 1 September 2005 and must use the new application form.
