The Irish Sailing Association (ISA) held its first Olympic Squad session of 2005 in Dublin on 26 February, formally announcing squad members and introducing new staff.
The event marked the official campaign start for several new young squad sailors aspiring to compete in the 2008Olympic Sailing Competition in Beijing. Included in the squad are several veterans of the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Competitions in Athens such as Gerbil

TWOMEY, Brian O'MAHONY and Paul McCARTHY. In the Star class Max
TREACY and Anthony SHANKS, 18th in the recent Star World Championship are joined by Maurice
O'CONNELL and Ed PEEL who finished two places higher in 16th.
The session was spent reviewing progress since Athens and addressing how the team could most effectively go forward. The process has put in place a solid foundation for the ISA's ongoing 2008 Olympic Games campaign.
