Jochen SCHÜMANN Leads Pack

5.5 Metre World Championship
Sydney, Australia

With 5 wins and two second there is hardly any doubt that Jochen SCHÜMANN will become the new 5.5 World champion.

Johan Gullichen (FIN) looks secure to claim the second place, but the fight is still on for third place between Ali-Baba and Maitresse.

Yesterday Patrick HUGUENIN (SUI) aboard Blade Runner, lying in ninth overall, commented, 'Schuemann is taking a good option to winning the title. In race 5 we were leading going downwind when we ran across a fishing net and then we broached, Schümann on Artémis and Marazzi on Ali Baba took advantage of the situation finnishing 1st and 2nd. On the next race (6) the same trio was in the lead again, this time we avoided the net ! From a speed point of view we are on equal terms with the german but he makes less errors and when he does he is quick to recover and he will not do it again...'

Alfredo DELLI helming Carabella from Italy is in the lead of the Classics and should keep retain first place, as will Rob FIELDING (AUS) in the Evolution Class.
There are three more races to go to complete the series.
